Two-roll cents for $15.00! They still think everyone is working, or maybe they are working, again! I'll give them four-bits for the roll!

The new design sure is a beauty! Yep! I am sure I won't be collecting THEM!

Kurt, The mint sent me a notice for the last issue of the 2009 cent. Two rolls for $15.00. I also saw in the Coin World, what the new design for the 2010 cent is. It is horrible. I won't waste my time on them! Hive me the IHC, and I'll be happy. Old, ugly, and all good alloy that won't "self-destruct".

Oh, that cent with the shield? Yeah, I don't like it--at all. I'll take a real 19th C. coin like the IHC, over that cheesy knockoff Laughing I'm hoping it will look better in metal.

Kurt, I'm begining to think it might be a good idea to go back to the wheatbacks, again. They are good alloys, and are not so hig-priced as the IHC. The prices I am seeing everywhere for them, is out of sight. If one looks at the 2010 "Red Book". the prices shown, are not realistic, or the sellers are so greedy it stinks! There is a great difference in the two values. The book is wrong, or the sellers are wrong. Some of the IHC's I have bought lately, are high priced, and very low grade. But when you try to buy the better coin gradees, they are out of reach. frankly, I don't think the values given in the new red book are correct. They are very low. The "problem coins" I got to fill holes, are much hugher priced than the valuse listed for the same grade. Maybe I am wrong. What do you folks think?

Dick,
I'd think prices would be softer of late. Confused As an example, I did some research on the 1877 for a friend. Using 2009 Heritage auction sales, I find prices track well to Rick Snow's 2007 FE/IHC guide, ie below those given in the 2010 RB. So, when I buy an 1877, I'm going by current Heritage sales—I'll let you know how that plays out Laughing

I've also noticed so many IHCs are below what I consider "collector grades". Minor damage and cleaning is one thing--but culls (especially semi-keys) are being offered for the majority of a problem-free value. No doubt, IHCs are getting harder to find--but not that hard! People are offloading near-worthless coins in these IHC lots, or tipping the date spread towards 1900-09.

Btw, I'm going to a show in a couple of days to look for IHCs. If you need a few, I can keep an eye out for good ones. Very Happy

Hi kurt, I guess i'll have to put the brakes on the ones I have been buying. They are not that good ,(g-vg, at best, but dates that were missing). I need just a few to fill one folder, Minus the '77, and '09-S. those holes will probably never get filled, (at least not on my fixed income. And to make it worse, no COLA in 2010)! I can't control the use of the gas I pay for. Before, when I bought the gas, and controlled how it was used. I could get some good mileage, but (not so any more, since I no longer drive)! You might keep an eye open for the three types of '64, ( copper-nickle, bronze, no "L", and bronze "L"). The ones I have are culls. I bought them as culls, to fill holes. Besides, I thought I might run into an RPD, once in a while. (Always ready for a "two-for")
Dick!

Whenever I see the "logsplitter" cent, I can't help but get the impression that old Abe is goofing off. Instead of working, he's sitting down on the job, doing the 19th century equivalent of surfing the 'net... READING!

Of course, I know it's supposed to symbolize his effort to better himself by studying. And that's a great thing to do. But somehow that particular design strikes me as Abe goofing off when there's work to be done. I guess I'm the only one who sees it that way.

Too bad we didn't have the advance knowledge about what was going to happen in the white house, before Obama got there! We wouldn't be so far in debt! And I'm referring to our GREAT-Grand children!

Well...I see a massive economic blunder spanning several administrations. Between business--government--consumer fubars, who started it...I won't start pointing fingers among my friends. Laughing

As this is in the "news" section, did anyone catch Warren Buffet on the Charlie Rose interview? That guy knows his stuff, and he made some good points about responsibility. It's probably on youtube by now.

Now I'm reminded this is coins, a fun hobby--and not the constant source of worry that is the economy Laughing

You are right, it does span several administrastions, and i didn't have mch to pro, or con, with the elections. My reasoning? As long as there is an "Electoral College", my vote won't elect a president! IOf I had the final say, I would limit the number of terms a congress member, or Senator could serve. No more lifetime jobe, with lifetime full time pay, even if they retire. The presidental term would be six years, and NO RE-Election! Then we would elect our president, not somne one else, ( with an axe to grind)!
How about the Sarah Palin interview..... anyone see it?
And coins, yes our conscience reminded me that I still have several IHC tubes to check for RPD's. I diid find a snow-4, 1996 RPD today. It is the "6" w". Only ten m,ore tubes to go.
