I just purchased this token from Ernie Latter, cwtguy on ebay. This is NGC 65BN. The obverse is a George Hyenlein storecard. Nice generous red lustrous perimeter and blue and brown in the centers. The reverse is one of my favorites, the Washington Star reverse. The Fuld number is NY-F-630AL-3a. Only God and George Fuld knows what that means!

Nice!

That's exactly the sort of BN copper that I like.

Probably also stable enough to stay like it is.

Smile

I don't collect this category, but I have to admit, it is nice looking!

Thank you Ed and Dick. I have a small but very nice collection of civil war tokens. The prices are starting to climb on these. I was very fortunate to get this, a 65, for under $100. I had an email exchange with Ernie Latter, who sold me this. I asked him if he had seen any CWT's that had a sticker attached to the back indicating the Brett Palser Collection. Brett was a collector / dealer and researcher of civil war tokens and was in business with Rick Snow for a while before his untimely death a few years ago. Brett was also a friend and associate of Bryon Kanzinger, who was an author and researcher of CWTs who also passed away shortly before Brett. I was fortunate to buy a few from Brett while they were on Rick's website. Ernie said he does run across many with the sticker and removes them. I was very disappointed to hear that.

I have many pictures of CWTs that were on Brett's inventory list that have stunning toning. I will post a few if there is any interest. Very Happy
