I thought the fly-in-club was deserted, but we have outdone them! We need to show Chuck, and Bob, and all others who have contributed to the site, that it was not in vain! Too much time, (and money), has been spent, to allow this site to just shrivel up and die! So you haven't found anything? Not a problem! they show "re-runs" on TV, we can show the things that have given us pleasure. There aere new members who haven't seen all the 'goodies" that have been shown. they deserve a chance, too. Everyone has his, or her 'thing', that they are working on, and we would like to see it, too. It doesn't HAVE TO BE coppercoins, entirely. There is a section for just about anything you have to show. come on, let's show Chuck and the gang, that we are still alive, and caring! I know there are a lot of different areas where we spend a lot of time, (and money), on other types of coins.
I am working on "VICKYS". Canadian large cents, and let me tell you, there are a LOT of varieties!
Don't just say it, DO IT!

Have you found a good way of telling the difference between obverses on the Vicky large cents? I've tried by using both Charlton and Haxby and am clueless.

We realize people are busy,or sometimes don't have much to say. Some of us are on many different forums as well. It seems that once in a while, there will be much to show and say here. We know who our regulars are, but are not put off of there is little or no posts here for a while.

Wink I knew it would bring a little "static". I know there are many reasons why WE are not on this, or any forum, and I respect them. I get lonely, and read some of the posts, from "way back", before I joined. Very interesting.
SMED, on the Vickys, the obverse is normally one of four. It is easiest to determine which is which, by using the chin/mouth combination. The two date her very readily. The mouth, especially. You can also get some help in this area if you check into SNAZ's new forum. Canadiancoppercoins.com. Bill in Burl, is one of the best known, along with Dan in crystal lake. Bill furnished most of the material foe some of the work Dan has written, along with a couple others, on the "Vickys".
Bob, sorry about "drifting"., but I wanted to answer SMED'd question.
Whuile it is very quiet here, don't think for a minute, it is deserted. NOT! there are many of us, that check several times a day, and also PM, so , stop by, some one can, and will answer your question. Just ask.
BTW, Bob, do you have room for about a dozen cents? i have some that I want you to look at, when you have time, and are home again.

Hi Dick,
I certainly don't mind any of your conversations here. 'Drifting' seems to be par for the course, and there is no one worse at it than me. Rest assured, I read this forum every day, and will always make a statement when I can add something substantial. It just takes me back a few years to realize how much people to this forum and others, have learned over the years. The forms are having the desired effect...to educate, discuss and learn.
I will have time for your coins in about 2 weeks Dick if that is all right with you. I have a schedule of packages that I am keeping up with pretty well. If that's good for you, drop it in the mail around the 20th or so...OK??

Hi Biob, Yes that will give me time to run thru them to be sure which ones I want to send. I'll have to make comparisons to the site, so that the ones I send will be useful for the site's database.
On another note, it would be nice, if we had a "show, and tel area", that would include any coin form any country. maybe we do, and I just haven't found it yet.
Enjoy the latest storm that is headed your way, because it looks like things are going to return to "normal"

Dick,
We do have the 'World copper" and world coins categories at the bottom of the forum home page. THis might be an ideal place for your other coins.

Hi Bob, tes, I have been there, and will no doubt make use of it. I haven't been "all there' for a few dayt. My brain, or what there is of it, has been all tied up with "down computers! They are great when working, but mean, when down. Thanks for the reminder.

hey all...
I know I haven't been on here but my family, work and everything has taken away my time from my coins, but hopefully, God willing and the river don't rise I start having more time here and with my cents.
I read the forum here everyday( and its usually late nite) and checked out that wensy site.( bought a couple of items) and so far so good.

So Bob, Chuck, and Dick and others, Thanks

Mike

Good to see you here again Mike. I am also glad you can get back into the coin thing again. Been real busy myself, but I always check this forum daily. If I can do anything for any of you, feel free to let me know.
