Now that you all have a sense of what a trail die is, I would like to ask three questions.

1. Are trail dies and wavy steps;
a. the same anomaly
b. two different anomaly types.
c. they maybe the same, but I am not to sure.

2.Trail dies (and/or wavy steps) are;
a. a doubled die
b. a different die type anomaly, separate from a doubled die.
c. not a die anomaly, but something else.

3. Do trail dies (and/or wavy steps);
a. deserve a separate classification, like doubled die and RPMs
b. should be left in a class of doubled dies (Class VIII).
c. I am not really sure where it should be put.

Traildies.com, which is part of Coppercoins, is approaching 20,000 visitors and this will occur in less than two years. From the begin when the first die was entered to the site on 17 August, 2008, we have grown to over 1130 dies with close to 5000 colored pictures and it is all because people like you have used and shown their appreciation for this site.

With no signs of trail dies taking the road that RPMs took, we should still see this anomaly continue to be found. And not only in the most recent coins being produced, but in older dates and from other countries as well.

We at Traildies.com (and also Coppercoins.com) will continue this endeavor to list the various trail dies that are presented to us. If you would, please take a moment or two and see what you think of the three questions asked. It will give us a better understanding of what we need to do. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you
BJ Neff

BJ, IMHO, the three answers are in order, B-B-A. I believe that they arenot completely known, and understood, as to the why, and how, they are produced, and thus, more work is required. It may never be completely known, but with your continued work, the day will come when we can be reasonably sure as to the what,why, and how. Keep up the good work. I have never been able to see the wavy steps, but the rtrails, yes. I believe my eyes were worse than I realized, before I reied to "see' the wavy steps. keep an anchor handy! It is that time of the year! I have seen the 'season start in May, and know it can be a busy one, when it does.
