Found this searching an old bag of wheats. It's on a 1946 wheatie. My first and I think it's a beauty:

That's a 1946 and the wire is still retained? That's amazing in its own right. Pretty cool find though!

Larry, that is a great find! I have seen struck-thru, but never a wire, and even less often with the wire still in place. My best is a dime, (in a proof set, with a string, it looks like from the shape, and area it covers. I broke it out, and was going to put it on ebay, but 'evente' occured that changed my mine, and zi replaced it in the set. I covered from the rim, over to the top of the head, then over and around the hair, to the temple. Very clear, very distinct. I don't remember the year, but I will look thru the proof sets. Maybe I can re-locate it.
BTW, have any of this type strike -thru been found up North? i don't recall having read of any, either in the inglish, or French speaking forums.

Hi Dick,

Your's sounds really cool! I'd like to see it if you come across it.

I haven't heard of any Canadian coins like this. I have a few with the incuse mark from a wire but nothing with one intact.

Hi LArry, I'll tyry to locate it. Things have been pretty "topsy-turvy", lately, but the p[roof seta are still in the same place, (I think). I might have mixed up the boxes when I unloaded the safe, unit to move it to a different location, but it IS in this room, somewhere,LOL. I'll post it when I find it.
While I am thinking about it, I am going to PM you.
Dick

I can't say I've ever seen a retained wire like that. Very cool! And it circulated that way... amazing.

Looks sort of like a Spanish "Ñ". So that would turn "one cent" into "onyay cent"?
