I've been looking for a 1983 DDR and a 1984 DDO in change for quite a while. With a loupe I examine all the 83 and 84 cents I get in change but I have yet to see either one.
Does anyone have an estimate for the number of these coins poduced?
And have there been any found in circulation since 1983/1984? I'm trying to decide how to maximize my chances.
Yes they have been found in change, even a few finds were posted on the forum.
I think the 83 DDR has less in number than many other varieties You might be more likely to find the 84 DDO.
Be sure while you look for the 83 DDR to look for the nice 83 DDOs. I have only found one 83 DDR but while looking for it I found one 83 DDO die-1 then recently in a single unc roll I found 2 each of DDO die-2 and DDO-die-3. Same with the 84 DDO, while looking for the big one I have found several of the others including 2 that got added to the site and to Conecas listings.

Nice going Ed! I haven't been searching lincoln cents in quite a while. Too busy with the FE/IHC, and now with the Canadian large cents. I didn't realize just how closely thety checked these coins. There are varieties, that stare you in the face, mand if you don't know them, you will miss several in one shot! _________________ " Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before".
