Well, my personal inventory list had been made without added lines for Indian head cents, I wasn't looking to buy any, and definately didn't figure to find any, but....
just opened a box from the bank and looking at the ends of the rolls, ok here's a copper, nah not that one, here's a copper,
whoa, here's a wreath????

that box paid for itself and the gas to pick it up, and I havent even opened any rolls.

Does it have an "S" below the wreath? Even if it doesn't, nice find! Looks like a VG+.
I wonder where that cent has been hiding these past 50 years or so.

Phil, what does the reverse show? Is there an "S"?
the '08's are easy enough to find, and i find IHC in boxes fairly regular. The "S" will make it a keeper, for sure! I have one.

I have never found an '08-S, . I bought the one I have. I have found many IHC in the boxes of cents.

I like it when you see something good on the end of a roll!
Cool find!
I bet it wasn't out long, must have been in a drawer then got pulled from retirement on turned into a bank. I doubt IHCs stay long in the wild nowdays, it's lucky enough to find a wheat.

I turned it around and checked for the "S" after checking a reference, no "S".
Well I didnt expect they would still be out there, and I agree I think they were from someones collection which got turned in, I always wonder how many decent or average estate holdings get cashed in because the inheritors dont want to take the time to have it reveiwed and estimated and auctioned.
And I have to remeber to review my pics of coins right after, the software Im using will not always record the image, I had shot the reverse and was gonna post it also only to find the software had substituted the obverse image.
Also, the day after, I broke down that roll and one other which had a copper cent on the end, and found a low value but very nice wheat,
I might guess it to be nearly UNC if not for a strange dusting of some tightly adhereing material, both sides. I don't think I've seen wheat stalks so sharp.
Thanks for your responses, and the grade estimate, I was thinking "good" at best, not easy to see any of the "Liberty" in the headdress.
Ill post the nice wheat here this morning if I can.

here's the rev [img]
here is the 1952D wheat, Im afraid after looking closer and advancing the hue of the image, the coin is seriously pitted, the pits have a copper oxide color (blue green) so it is goner, worth its weight in copper
