This story is funny!
The coin looks un-explainable as a real error to me.
Notice the wheat ears on the obv and EPU are aligned correctly not mirrored (or oriented like a US coin) like a clash and nothing about it looks double struck plus if it was a flip-over double struck to be oriented that way would be one in a million chances. And beyond that even if it was real his price expectation is crazy.

I saw this story on the other forum. This guy apparently refuses to show anyone the real coin.

My argument is if the wheat ears are so sharply struck on the obverse, where are the rest of the reverse details?

Anyway, the wheat ears on his drawings and photos aren't even close to the real thing. Rolling Eyes

One part of this story that hasnt gotten as much notice is in the first page of the CU link above. At the drawing, near the bottom of the first page, it says that the owner commissioned a painting of the coin and sold about 500 copies at $40 each. Hmmm. Idea

Garry,

Sounds like he got 500 x $40 for paintings plus $25,000 to sell the coin plus published a book about it. Then he traded the sock drawer he kept it in for a Cadillac. He really went to town on it Wink
I'm not sure I believe anyone was foolish enough to buy the paintings, book, drawer or coin for what he said, it's just not believable and that's why it's a funny story.

From the pics (or pics of the painting) on the CU forum:
It has some of EPU showing near TRUST and it's not mirrored and the I of Liberty and 6 of the date show strongly over the wheat ears. The wheat ears are thin and it's oriented the same as the obverse.
That thing he's holding looks like a penny frying pan!

Just a funny story!

Just another shyster ripping off anybody he can.

It's so obviously fake I can't believe any non-moron would fall for it.

"Feebay" takes great delight in the fact that the world has a little of all kinds, and one kind has a lot in particular. I believe they are referred to as:
"Non-Compus-Mentus"

Ed:

You are right, the 500 sold painting story is not believable either. I don't think that anyone has seen even a photo of this coin. Any drawing of it is going to be unreliable at best.
