I've been looking through my pennies and found a few that, well, I'm not sure if they are errors and if they are what type of error they are. I will start a post for each of them and hopefully with everyone’s help I can find out what they are or if they are errors at all. This one is a 1956. The letters I, N, G, O, D and part of the W are, for lack of a better word, damaged. The other thing I found odd is that the word LIBERTY seems to slope on a downward angle from left to right. Has anyone seen this before??

First off deep103, welcome to the forum. Sorry this is the first time I noted your post numbers.

Just damaged. Probably from a coin wrapper, but I seldom see this, this close in on the devices. It usually hits the last or second to last date digit.

Thanks, I didn't think a wrapper could do that kind of damage. What about the slant or slope on the word liberty? Is this a common thing??

The distance from the rim is the same and parallel to the rim. Coin wrapper damaged.

It's from the gadget they used to crimp the wrapper closed. It can damage the coin all around the edge, maybe also what you see on LIB.

Welcome aboard! Smile
