Warning for gold buyers
Toronto Police warn jewellers to watch for gold bars stamped with kangaroos
Toronto police are warning workers in the jewellery and metal industries to be on the lookout for someone trying to sell gold bars stamped with kangaroos.
Police say someone used a fraudulently obtained bank draft for nearly $1.9-million to buy gold bars in Montreal last month.
Among the treasure were 75 unique 10-ounce gold bars that have the symbol of the Perth Mint in Australia on the front and kangaroos on the back.
Police said someone tried to sell the gold bars in Toronto on Feb. 14.
Toronto Police are warning those who work with precious metals “of the possibility that persons may attempt to pass these fraudulently obtained gold bars at their places of business,” according to a news release.
The Canadian Bankers Association is offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the recovery of the bars and the conviction of the thief.

Dick that's interesting.
I've read so many things lately about scams and stuff and most of the time I'm left thinking "the banks must be crazy".
It's like if you overdraft your account by 10 cents and bells and whistles go off but if they give millions/billions in bad loans there's no alarm. Then stuff like this, what bank would part with 1.9 mil without checking everything out!

Ed, here is another link that should be viewed with extreme caution:

Same auctionhouse...
This info comes from the Torex site, CCRS, where one of the members is very active in the stand against counterfiet coins, (in Canada). We could learn a good lesson here in the US, if it was put to good use. Ebay.ca has taken a firm stand on the sales on ebay.ca, and any found are turned over to the RCMP. It is not like "our feebay", where anything goes, legit, or no!
