Well, come to find in my "junk" silver morgans I just got from the local dealer, I might have scored. Although I grade it possibly VF-20 only, so it's a shame it passed thru so many hands before I found it.
Please see if you agree it is a VAM 10, wish it had the markers for VAM 7.

Here you can barely see the CC MM behind the O.

Here is the die gouge marker.

Here is the date position.

Looks like a 10. The date position is wrong for a 7.

Thanks GarryN, I wonder if this searching thru low grade silver is gonna be worth it. I am using a very good site, VAM World, and didnt realize there were so many VAM's.

I look at this way, if you bought it to look through it then it might not be worth it but if you bought it to sell it or keep it then looking through it is free fun. You can't go wrong if you like it.

I guess it would be like going to a junk yard to find a tire with great looking tread on it and then after buying it you find out it can't be used because of a defect in the tire it self. Who would buy a tire like that if you tried to sell it.
Searching through damaged coins only find you finding a damaged coin. Silver junk is just worth silver. Even if you found something, could you really sell it if no one wanted it?

That I don't know, Coop. I am just starting to go thru the Morgans and Peace $'s, at first when I heard the term VAM, I thought cream of the crop, superior listing. But reading some and doing some "attribution" of my own, I found that there are "micro" VAMs, I mean very minor varieties and errors have their own VAM number.
So back to the question, I thought if I matched up a VAM and put it on feebay, someone would want it if it was in reasonable shape, maybe for only a few dollars more than silver spot, but that would be ok too.
Now I am inclined not to bother, I agree with Ed, it is free fun, and I am definately a junk yard dog, but right now Im pulling out some of my sorted copper memorials and switching to those for awhile.
If the silver market turns next week before I finish searching thru the Morgans and others, hasta lavista.

That's true.
With VAMs they list anything, it might be something that we would only care about as a marker or a neat die crack or whatever. Still someone might pay a small premium because they want that variety even if it's not a great example. You also might find some better ones.

Now days I see people selling some pretty decent stuff as junk silver. The good, bad or ugly, a lot of it is getting sold at melt now days.
