I recently came across some web sites for rotated die errors and spent some time searching. I did not find any in about 5 hours of searching. By comparison I usually would find at least a few RPMs in searching for that amount of time. Is anyone a collector of rotated die Lincolns? Do you have any suggestions on common years to search ?

The way to check for sure if a coin is rotated is to put one in a 2 X 2. Correctly on the Obverse and then flip it over to see how far the Reverse is off.(Coin should be 180 Degrees to be normal, Canadian coins will be the same direction : Medal postion) I have never found any myself, but that is not what I actually look for. They usually don't bring a high premiumn, but on Ebay they go for a little extra. The angle some are rotated helps to improve that value, but anthing over 30 degrees are collectable. Like I say I don't check all the coins I've been going through for position on the reverse.

Rotated die strike coins need to be 45 degrees or more to be worthwhile, and 99% aren't - including the one in that auction. 45 degrees meaning that north is facing northwest or northeast directly.
