if not dont waist your time looking for errors lol there is so much crap in the error section that to find a real error you will have to weed out all the junk post mint damage and the worn out coins labeled as errors.
if you are not just a little smart you can get took badly there anymore. and some of the people selling this junk even show their brick and mortar coin shops in their adds lol. why are dealers pawning this crap off as errors. i hope they are just not that smart cause it would really erk me to see a learned dealer selling this crap to uneducated want to be collectors. go's to prove the old saying. "buy the book then the coin" lol

The odd thing is that the junk almost always sells.
Good to see you posting Gary!

There are probably alot of dealers on ebay that are reliable sellers of error and variety coins. The two that I look at regularly are "doubledguy" and "Klynstra". The former is John Wexler and the latter is another seller with reliable merchandise. Klynstra is his last name. And, of course I have bought things from Lincolncents.com

That would be lincolncent.com (singular). Lincolncents.com (plural) is a completely different website.
As for ebay - it's no different now than it has been for years. You have to know what you're doing and pick through the crap to find the real stuff.

Those are some good eBay examples. I once saw a guy selling a 2009 Lincoln cent with lamination bubbling as "Cud Spray". There are some good ones on there. Another one I like is the guy that makes two headed "mules". He sells state quarters but how would you ever know what state it was from?

The only benefit of all the garbage on it is that sometimes you can pick up a bargain on a legit error or variety while the other bidders are fighting over the garbage. Think of them as decoys with the good stuff hidden among them.

Yes, that's a Gooood Von - been around for a while. The eBay’ers are in town (Las Vegas) this week at Planet Hollywood having a big get-together. I went to one a couple years ago, but I determined that just listening to eBay Radio keeps me on top of things just as good.
eBay is fast becoming “FeeBay” with all the seller fee increases - starting this month they are adding in shipping costs into the final value fees. They say it is to promote Free Shipping, but I don't drink that cool-aid - it's for the share holders!
With all the fee increases I have been looking for an alternative to an eBay Store where there is a revolving 30-day charge on every item in your Store. I will still use eBay as it is still the best place to first try and sell an item. But, if it doesn't sell, then I want to put it in a web store where there are no fees.
A few weeks ago I noticed one of our coppercoin members (Garylcsr) had an eCrater Store, and then I remembered I had one too but never used it. So, I’ve been playing around with it - placing some of my unsold items from eBay in there. I only have a few items listed now but as the weeks and months go by my eCrater inventory will grow.
http://buffalonickel.ecrater.com/
I want to pass along what I’ve found to those who might be interested. First I was happy to find it was easy to list an item, especially if you already have the description and images from an eBay listing. You can do bulk list transfers from eBay if you have 50 or more Buy-it-Now listings.
Then, I was really impressed with the Google participation with eCrater. After a few days, a listed item will start coming up on Google Shopping searches. If your item is rather unique it may even come up under a regular Internet search.
Let me give you two examples. In my store I have a Goldfield, Nevada trade token from the establishment “The Bouquet”, which is fairly scarce. If you Google Shopping “Goldfield trade token”, my item comes up but you have to go to page-3 to find it. However, if you type in “Goldfield token Bouquet” it comes up all by its self - sweet.
Then, I have a listing for a rare 1940’s postcard of San Diego Zoo’s Mountain Gorilla N’gagi. Type in “Postcard Mountain Gorilla” and a link to my item comes up on the bottom of page-1 with just nine other listings. Type in just “N’gagi”, and my listing come up all by its self again.
Why all this detail? Because I want to make a point that while eBay’s Buy-It-Now items also come up on these Google Shopping searches (I’m not sure as well as eCrater – eBay and Google sometimes don’t get-along) you are paying big fees for this service. With eCrater there are no fees for listing or selling. I’m sure Google plans to get their share with their new check-out service that competes with PayPay. There is another web site eBid that also partners with Google but they have listing a selling fees (but much less than eBay).
Sorry to go on so long, but I felt this was good information.
