Picked up a few Civil War Token last month and this one has a slightly re-punched date with the H clearly doubled.

Ken,
It's neat!
I wonder what the H is, designer initial?

Broas Brothers pie bakers from New York. I will be doing an exhibition on just that coin type in the near future.

I have one of those Broas Brothers tokens but I don't see an H on the obv.
Only have a rev pic handy. I don't think that's a CUD on it, just damage that looks like a CUD:

Hi Ken,
Not sure what they're worth but they're well known so they should be listed in the token books if someone has a book.
I've seen other Broas Bros tokens that mention the pies (like good for a pie) but mine doesn't mention it.
Maybe BJ will tell us more when he gets his info ready.
It's the kind of thing I don't really collect but I picked mine out of a dealer junkbox for a buck. Couldn't resist a piece of history for cheap. I'm sure condition matters, I see lot's of cheap CWTs but they almost always have some damage. I'm sure the price for a nice one can be much more.

The "Broas Brothers" 1863 token for pies is one of the most diverse tokens with errors that can be found. Most were struck on a copper alloy, but some were struck on bronze planchets. There are different combinations of the "H" that can be found; some have it on the obverse and reverse, while others have it just one one die and some not at all.
What makes this most interesting to an error collector is that this token can be found with; shattered obverse die, cuds on the obverse die, rotated die, die clashes, counter die clashes, repunched design elements and lastly, a mule (one that has two reverses).
So for a study or an exhibition, this is one neat token to do. Better examples can be a bit pricey, but still below $100.00, while the average seems to be around $20.00 to $25.00.
