LOL... it looks like a washer!
Can anyone give a short explanation of what coins fall inro the category of SCDs and SCHDs?
I know what it stands for but never understood the reasoning, is it based on who made them and why or how they were used?

Yes, I'm hoping someone can explain the SCDs/SCHDs.
(SCD= So Called Dollars and SCHD= So Called Half Dollars)
The reason I wonder about them is there's so many of them and they're so different like this odd coin and others that look like commemoratives.
I notice they're referred to with HK numbers so I'm guessing someone named HK cataloged and numbered them?
Then to make it more puzzling the coin in this post looks like it was circulated so I'm wondering why-where-when?
The only thing I already know is that there are books about them and catalog numbers and collectors do buy them. Still I don't understand what they have in common about their use or makers or timeframe etc...

I thought it had something to do with "sand cast coin design, but the
"H" threw me.
I don't mess with anything but cents, sooooo.
