Not sure if this is just a die gouge or if it is an RPM. Appreciate any thoughts.

I see it, tough call on being a gouge or being an RPM.

I would think gouge. I don't see anything that makes me think mint mark punch.

Only thing I see is that the raised area is parallel with the center of the mintmark - but that's the only thing I see that would make me give it a second look. I would probably have to toss this one back as a well placed die dent.

The area I was looking at is far west on the top of the S.
It looks remotely like a serif but I think it's most likely a die chip/crack.

Yeah, we are talking about the same area, I was just mentioning that it is parallel with the center of the mintmark - way out of position, of course, yet still parallel.
