iT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS, THAT i READ cHUCK'S ANNOUNCEMENT, THAT THE FORUM IS CLOSING DOWN. i UNDERSTAND THE REASONING, AND AGREE. iT HAS BEEN SLOW, BUT WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION IN THE ECONOMY, AND EVERYONE BEING AFFCTED BY IT, IT IS NO SURPRISE.
It is only one of several which have suffered from the state of affairs, and there will be more.
I have alwaYS CONSIDERED THIS FORUM, "home", AND HAVE LEARNED MUCH WHILE HERE. iT STANDS ME IN GOOD STEAD, IN MY WORK IN THE DIE MARRIAGES IN THE 1859n9 cANADIAN LARGE CENT.
PleaSE EXCUSE THE "CAPS", AS i CAN'T SEE THE LIGJHT, THAT TELLS ME IT IS IN UPPERCASE, UNTIL i LOOK UP, TO MAKE CORRECTIOMNS.
I see where many of us are going, and I believe I am still a member, but sure don't remember the Password!
See"Y'all" there,
Dick

Hello Dick,
I really do not believe it has anything to do with the economy, nor do I believe it has anything to do with seasons or anything else.
Basically, I have not actively participated in this forum like I should have, and it ended up suffering because there were other people trying to hold this one together while participating in other more active forums - like myself.
It's a good move. Coppercoins needs to focus on other things - like listing dies, and maintaining the website I am working to plan for this one to be. I like LCR, I like how it runs, and I think it's an easy program to get used to and use. They are ALWAYS talking about coppercoins and the coppercoins system over there, which basically makes it more or less an official coppercoins forum. Why not just go ahead and make it so?
Sometimes merging makes businesses more powerful - I believe this merger will make this site better too. No need to be sad - it's a good thing!

Thank you, Cguck. I will miss the site, but have no doubt that I'll see most of the "old gang" there on LCR.
Just to be sure, I re-regisrered, and changed the original user name to the LD, so things are all 'copasetic".
What about the Data, that is here? Will it still be available, in the future? It is one of the best data bases, I have had the pleasure to search.
I imagine others have asked that same question.
Best of luck on the LCR. There is much in common, so it should be a great success.
Dick

We have been working on seeing if the data would be compatible, and that question still has not been fully answered. At this point it is appearing unlikely that the data here will be transferable, but that doesn't mean I cannot keep it here for searching.

Hi again Chuck!
I sure hope it would be "available". I don't get around that well on LCR, and when I finish with my Canadian cent program, I'll be back into our cents. There will be lots of questions, and images to figure out.
It would be a shame if the data on the site were to end. There are so many new users, (collectors), that would be much more comfortable here, but that is evolution.
Like I said, I am very thankful to have had the privilege to be a member.
OT, but somehow related. I have windows 7, and have no idea how to use it. I also have Google chrome, and it serves as a "raft' that I use to get around on.
Take care, and I wish you a great success on the "new site"!
Dick

Click on the link in the post by owner, above. It will take you to LCR, and answer all your questions.
Yes, the site is closing on the first of April. It is sad, but necessary. You will find most of the members there, if you know any of them.
It is a site very much like this, dedicated to the Lincoln cent, and the study thereof.
See you there!

No, No, NO!!!
This site is NOT closing!!!
The FORUM on this site is closing. The site is being rebuilt into a MUCH better resource than we have EVER had before, and there is simply no place here for a forum any more. The LCR (Lincoln Cent Resource) is far more active and accomplishes the same purpose as the forum here on coppercoins, so I see no point in keeping it when the site changes over to its new version.
But again....coppercoins.com is NOT closing!!!

Chuck, I evidently mis-understood about the site! It is NOT closing? It will be available for?
Please set me straight. I don't like to give out onfo that is NOT fact!
There is MUCH about "forums" and sites, etc, that I am not well informed about, but would like to know more about. At least to be able to give out information to those who, like me, are members, and for whatever reason are not that active, as before. Thanks to Many things, and many people, whose name is on the tip of every tongue, but will remain un spoken, we have lost a great deal of activity, here.
The only other site where the same thing goes on, but in a different topic, is the site where I am actively, domng die research. They created a sub-forun for the purpose, and the author of most of the oinfo has a site, that is dedicated to the Canadian large cent.
If "curiosity don't kill the cat", maybe I'll see a coupl of my friends there:

Hi Dick. I will give it a shot. Think of a website like a book. It contains many chapters. One chapter is the Die listings and pictures. Another chapter is the forum.
I think what Chuck has said is the LCR has great functionality for the forum type content so instead of competing he is joining forces with LCR to create complimentary websites. Coppercoins will remain the best website for Lincoln die variety reference information. The daily banter and information sharing of the forum will take place on the LCR website.
Don't forget to add some of your jokes to the LCR site. I always appreciated the light hearted fun of some of your humor.

rollmeupabe,
Thanks for the explanation. I was under the mis-conception that it would comp;etely disappear. That would be very sad, to say the least.
As far as posting a joke, etc, I'll have to figure out how to navigate there, like I did here, before anything loike that could be tried. LOL
I joined there, shortly after joining this forum, but never cared too much about it. Too "formal".
There is another site, that is simulsr in some respects, but I lost the URL, and only remember as, "Missie' s Site. I am "Father Time", there.
I am not used to the way a lot of the sites operate, and usually "pass on by". Yet, in others, I am comfortable, and "hang around a spell.
