I am recently disabled and have found myself interested in coins. I have two that have me stumped. The first one, I think, is a 1944 strike-through error. The obverse looks as if something got in between the die and planchet. I can't figure out why Abe's beard is askew. The reverse is completely unaffected.

Also, I think this is a 1955 doubled die. Please look at the last "5" and the "I" in "Liberty." The "IN" is thicker in "IN GOD WE ..."

Thank you very much for any information. I'm not interested in selling these coins. I am interested in owning something truely unique.

Hello Imahik and welcome to the forum...

Your first coin is an example (and a very nice one) of a lamination peel. That strip of metal didn't adhere well to the rest of the planchet when it was made, then came apart after the coin was struck. It's a nice, but minor error.

Your second coin is a "poor man's" double, not a doubled die. It is the result of an extremely worn die striking a coin. The doubling effect is caused by metal flow on the die becoming more pronounced as the die strikes coins.
