I wish it included the date. It also looks like it spent ten years in a bag getting loaded into an armored car every day.

It looks like it's encased, so weighing the coin directly is not easy. Maybe you can weigh an empty container to get the weight of the coin?

The flat, broad appearance of "Liberty" leads me to believe that it's a post-1981 zinc cent.

Does anyone here agree, and if so, are there any other clues that would help narrow down the date?

Interesting challenge.

I also believe that it is newer. The coin isn’t slabbed, it is in a 2X2 cardboard coin holder. I do not have a jeweler’s scale, only a postage scale.
Sorry about the size of these photos. I'll figure out how not to do that agian.
