I am stunned at the great pictures added in the last month. I always focused on wheat pennies for varieties thinking there was nothing very exciting in the memorial cents other than the 1969S and 1972 ddo's. The pictures posted this week have changed my perspective. Beautiful coins and fantastic pictures.

Thanks! Well; at least some of them are mine/ours.
Roger B and I think that Bob and Chuck have done simply fantastic work in getting all these images taken and uploaded to the site...things are certainly starting to pick up steam on many fronts.

I have also been exited about the new additions to the site. Some very nice varieties are being added.
Now that I look, the site has over 4,500 pictures currently available for anyone to view for free. I remember when the site made it to 2,000, and it was a huge milestone. The rate that this site is being completed is very impressive, and hopefully, it will soon be very close to completion.

Well, "soon" is a matter of perspective.
While we have been making huge strides in the past month, we still have very far to go. Here's the scoop:
There are approximately 2,500 different die varieties in Lincoln cents. Could be more, could be a bit less, but this is a round number to work with.
We supply photos of three major die states of each die. So multiply that 2,500 by three, or 7,500.
There are approximately 5 photos of each die state of each die, plus one preview picture per die...
(7500 * 5) + 2500 = 40,000 photos when finished.
So, we're barely 1/10th the way there and it's been going on for a few years now. Hopefully with some of the recent additions of sources for coins we've come across, MARS being one of the major contributors to this, we will be able to put up three to five times the number of photos per year that we've been able to in the past. Bob and I are currently working on a pace of 10 photos per day on average, or 3,650 per year. Now all we have to do is keep the coins rolling in so we can keep the photos going!
Thanks for the kudos, but as always, it wouldn't be possible without the help of others. My hat's off to them.
Chuck

I guess when you look at it the way Chuck puts it...we still have a long, long way to go. But, Chuck is right in that we are now getting a lot of great source material, and working as hard as we can attributing, taking pics and loading them on the site. All this and working 'regular' jobs to boot! And believe it or not...you aint seen nothing yet!
I really appreciate the kudos folks. Just remember to keep directing all of your friends and fellow collectors to the site. We love seeing the newbies here, and there are many milestones within striking distance for the site. Many thanks again!
