Site photos - good and bad news...

The good news - there was a glitch in the program that counted the number of photos on the site. I corrected it yesterday to reflect the real number of photos on the site, and it indeed is over 5,750.

The bad news - we have no idea when we really did go over 5,000 for real because the counter is what we've been using all along to gauge progress. For all I knew last week, we did have only 5,000 photos.

As for the contest, since the problem wasn't encountered and corrected until after the contest was completed and done, the results stand as originally posted. If it hadn't been for my correcting a simple programming error (committed years ago) we would still be thinking we had around 5,020 photos on the site as of today.

The good part is that we are farther along than we had thought and completion is all that closer.

Why does this never happen to my 401k account. It always has less than I thought instead of more. I think this means we have 12% more photos to use in authenticating our finds. Not bad news at all.
