Pointed upper serif with a trumpet-shaped lower serif.
Very easily discernible from other mint mark types in that the lower serif looks like the bell of a trumpet whose outer edge points at an angle inward. The upper serif is long and points downward to a point inside the lower loop of the S.
This style is odd in that its first use was in 1942, then skips 1943 and 1944, then picks back up in 1945 and runs through 1952.
