MDS markers
Obverse
A heavy die scratch on the lower shoulder parallels the outline of the shoulder running north-northwest. Some light die scratches run generally N-S around and through the RTY of LIBERTY. Heavy die scratches run north from the hair.
Reverse
N-S die scratches show in the second T of STATES and in the last A of AMERICA. Reverse is MDS.
LDS markers
Obverse
Die clash at throat that has almost disappeared. Die scratch above head between D & W of motto. Present in MDS and still present in LDS. Faded die scratch on lower left bust that was strong in MDS state.
Reverse
N/S die scratches on reverse mostly fading but prevalent between letters C on CENT and N on UNITED. Several die scratches fading above the T in CENT. Two very light N-S parallel gouges show here also. Fading die scratches between TE on STATES and a little die scratch west of A on AMERICA that was stronger on MDS. Reverse is LDS.
