Varieties that aren't

Through the years of study in copper, many varieties were reported and listed that have since been disproven. The following is a partial list of those "so called" varieties.

  • 1954 "San Jose" mint cents
  • 1958/7 over date cents
  • 1961 small and large date cents
  • 1962 hair line varieties
  • "no VDB on bust" cents (any year)
  • "no initials on reverse" cents (any memorial year)
  • "floating roof" memorial cents
  • "missing Lincoln on reverse" memorial cents
  • filled letters and numbers on any coin

In addition to this list, it is important to note that "BIE" errors and die cracks, gouges, and breaks occur frequently on cents and should be dismissed as typical and common errors wirth little or no premium.
