These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CopperCoins.com (“CopperCoins,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the CopperCoins website, applications, content, catalogs, member tools, community features, and related services (collectively, the “Site”).

BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SITE, CREATING AN ACCOUNT, OR PURCHASING OR RENEWING A MEMBERSHIP, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND OUR PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT USE THE SITE.

1. Nature of the Site

CopperCoins provides educational and reference materials concerning Lincoln cent die varieties, including catalog search, die attribution research, articles, guides, value estimates, member collection tools, and related collector resources. The Site is provided for informational, educational, and research purposes. CopperCoins is not a coin dealer, broker, auction house, appraisal firm, grading service, or authenticator unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to create an account, purchase a membership, or use member-only features. By using the Site, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. The Site is not directed to children under thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen (13).

3. Accounts

If you create an account, you are responsible for (a) providing accurate, current, and complete registration information; (b) maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials; and (c) all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us promptly at staff@coppercoins.com if you suspect unauthorized access or compromise. You must keep the email address associated with your account current so that billing, security, and membership notices can reach you. CopperCoins may treat actions taken through your account as authorized by you.

4. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:

Copy, scrape, harvest, crawl, spider, mine, bulk-download, mirror, frame, or redistribute Site content, catalog data, images, metadata, or databases without prior written permission from CopperCoins;
Use bots, scripts, automated agents, or similar means to access, query, or extract Site content except for ordinary use of a standard web browser by a human user;
Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security, rate limits, access controls, watermarks, or technical protection measures;
Disrupt, overload, damage, or gain unauthorized access to the Site, servers, networks, or accounts;
Use the Site in any manner that violates applicable law or infringes the rights of CopperCoins or any third party;
Misrepresent CopperCoins research, attributions, cross references, authenticity notes, or value guides as certifications, guarantees, or professional opinions;
Upload or transmit malware, or engage in fraud, phishing, spam, harassment, or threats;
Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity; or
Use the Site to compete with CopperCoins by systematically appropriating its content or data.

CopperCoins may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate.

5. Intellectual property

The Site and all content made available through it—including without limitation text, images, catalog data, die numbers and descriptions, research notes, software, design, and compilation—are owned by CopperCoins or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Coin images and attribution photography are the sole property of CopperCoins unless otherwise noted, and may not be reproduced, published, or commercially exploited without prior written permission. The name “coppercoins” and related marks are service marks of CopperCoins. No rights are granted except as expressly set forth in these Terms.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, CopperCoins grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Site for your personal, non-commercial research and collecting purposes. This license does not include any right to resell, sublicense, or create derivative databases from Site content.

6. Catalog, attribution, and research disclaimer

Die attributions, die stages, design types, mint mark types, authenticity discussions, cross references, rarity comments, and related catalog information on the Site reflect CopperCoins’ research, analysis, and professional judgment based on available evidence at the time of publication. Such information is inherently interpretive, may be incomplete, and may be revised as new evidence becomes available.

CATALOG AND ATTRIBUTION CONTENT IS PROVIDED FOR EDUCATIONAL AND REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE CERTIFICATION, AUTHENTICATION, GRADING, OR A WARRANTY OF IDENTITY, VARIETY, STAGE, AUTHENTICITY, OR ORIGIN. CopperCoins does not guarantee that any attribution, cross reference, or research note is complete, current, or free from error. You are solely responsible for independent examination and for any collecting, buying, selling, trading, or other decision made in reliance on Site content.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CopperCoins and its owners, contributors, employees, and affiliates disclaim all liability arising from reliance on catalog, attribution, authenticity, or research content.

7. Price Guide and Valuation Disclaimer

All prices, values, value ranges, and market estimates published by CopperCoins are provided solely for informational and educational purposes. Values are estimates developed from market research, observed sales, dealer offerings, auction results, collector activity, and other available market information. They are not appraisals, guarantees of value, offers to buy or sell, or assurances that any particular coin will sell for, purchase for, or retain the stated value.

Actual market prices may vary substantially based on grade, condition, eye appeal, attribution, authenticity, certification, rarity, market demand, venue, timing, buyer and seller knowledge, and other factors. Coin markets can change without notice, and published values may not reflect the most recent transaction or market condition.

CopperCoins, its owners, contributors, employees, and affiliates assume no responsibility or liability for financial losses, purchases, sales, trades, investment decisions, or other transactions made in reliance upon published values. Users are responsible for conducting their own research and exercising independent judgment before completing any transaction.

8. Cross references

Cross referenced die numbers are given as a result of our extensive research, however are not guaranteed to be accurate.

9. No professional advice

Nothing on the Site constitutes legal, financial, investment, tax, appraisal, authentication, grading, or other professional advice. You should consult qualified professionals before making any decision that may have legal or financial consequences. Any reliance you place on Site content is strictly at your own risk.

10. User content

The Site may permit you to submit, post, upload, or transmit content, including without limitation messages, forum posts, comments, collection data, descriptions, links, and images (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content. You are solely responsible for User Content you submit and for the consequences of posting it.

By submitting User Content, you grant CopperCoins a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, perform, distribute, and otherwise use such User Content in connection with operating, improving, promoting, and protecting the Site and CopperCoins’ services. This license continues for so long as your User Content remains on the Site and for a reasonable period thereafter for backups, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to submit the User Content and to grant the foregoing license, and that your User Content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third-party right or any law. CopperCoins does not endorse User Content and has no obligation to monitor it, but may remove, edit, refuse, or restrict User Content at any time in its sole discretion.

11. Community and member tools

Community features (including forums and messaging) and member tools (including My Coppercoins collection features) are provided subject to these Terms and any posted community guidelines. You agree not to use those features to harass, defame, threaten, spam, or exploit others, or to post unlawful, infringing, or deceptive material. CopperCoins is not a party to transactions between members and does not escrow, insure, or guarantee member-to-member dealings that may arise from Site use.

12. Membership and billing

Paid membership is an annual subscription billed through Stripe (card) or PayPal. Current published rates are shown on the Join page. As of this update, the introductory first-year rate is $29.95, and renewals for the second and later years are $34.95/year.

Pricing may change without notice. The rate in effect at the time of each automatic renewal is the rate that will be charged. Published prices on the site and in reminder emails are the current rates and may be updated at any time.

Auto-renewal. Unless you cancel as described below, your saved payment method will be charged automatically at renewal for another membership year at the then-current rate.

Renewal reminders. We send two email reminders before each automatic renewal charge (approximately fourteen (14) days and seven (7) days before the charge). Reminders state the expected charge date and amount based on then-current pricing. You remain responsible for canceling in time even if an email is delayed, filtered, or not received. Keep your account email current and review your Profile membership section.

Cancellation. You may cancel auto-renewal once per paid membership year (term). When you give cancel notice, automatic billing for the next year stops that day—you will not be charged for the following year. Your current paid period continues until its end date; you keep membership access through that date. No refunds are given for time already paid or for unused portions of a paid period. After you cancel renewal for a term, you cannot cancel again for that same term (the renewal is already stopped).

How to cancel. Sign in, open your Profile, and use Cancel renewal (or Stripe “Manage billing” / PayPal autopay settings). Canceling through Stripe or PayPal should be set to end renewal at period end without a mid-term refund; our site cancel control follows the same rule.

Failed payments and chargebacks. If a renewal or other membership payment fails, Stripe or PayPal may retry according to their rules. Paid access may be suspended if payment is not completed. If a payment is reversed, charged back, or otherwise clawed back, CopperCoins may immediately suspend or terminate paid access and, where appropriate, the associated account. Abusive or fraudulent chargeback activity is a material breach of these Terms.

Membership is for access to CopperCoins member tools and content. It is not a brokerage or an offer to buy or sell coins. Value guides and research content remain subject to Sections 6 and 7.

13. Third-party payment processors

Payments are processed by independent third parties (including Stripe and PayPal). CopperCoins does not store full payment card numbers on its servers. Your use of those processors is also subject to their terms and privacy policies. CopperCoins is not responsible for errors, outages, or security incidents originating solely from a payment processor, except to the extent required by applicable law.

14. Suspension and termination

CopperCoins may, in its sole discretion, suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Site or any account, feature, or membership—with or without prior notice—if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or possible legal exposure for CopperCoins or others, engaged in fraud or abuse (including scraping or chargeback abuse), or if required for security, legal, or operational reasons. We may also refuse service or registration where appropriate.

Upon termination, your right to use the Site ceases immediately, except that provisions which by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law.

15. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

CopperCoins respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. If you believe that material on the Site infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) to:

Your notice should include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed; (b) identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorized; (e) a statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We may remove or disable access to allegedly infringing material and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, MEMBERSHIP FEATURES, COMMUNITY FEATURES, CATALOG DATA, RESEARCH, AND VALUE INFORMATION ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. COPPERCOINS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT.

17. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COPPERCOINS AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRIBUTORS, AFFILIATES, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE, MEMBERSHIP, COMMUNITY FEATURES, CATALOG OR RESEARCH CONTENT, VALUE GUIDES, ADVERTISING, OR USER CONTENT, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF COPPERCOINS AND THE FOREGOING PERSONS FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SITE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO COPPERCOINS FOR MEMBERSHIP ACCESS DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in such cases, the foregoing limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

18. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CopperCoins and its owners, officers, employees, contributors, affiliates, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms or of any law; (d) your infringement or misappropriation of any third-party right; or (e) your misuse of catalog, research, or value information. CopperCoins may assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with such defense.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are posted. Your continued use of the Site after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Membership pricing may change without notice as described in Section 12. If you do not agree to revised Terms, you must stop using the Site and cancel renewal as provided herein.

20. Governing law and venue

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and of the State in which CopperCoins maintains its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Except where prohibited by applicable law, you agree that the state and federal courts located in that State shall have exclusive jurisdiction and venue over such disputes, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in these Terms limits either party’s right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief for intellectual property or security violations in any court of competent jurisdiction.

21. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional guidelines or policies posted on the Site, constitute the entire agreement between you and CopperCoins regarding the Site and supersede prior understandings on the same subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, merger, or sale of assets. Headings are for convenience only.
