D-MMT02 (Evenly Shaped-D)

[1934-1945]

The only D mint mark in wheat cents that has a very symmetrical design top to bottom.

The second mint mark style is slightly larger and more characteristic of a printed letter. Although it has a flat angled section on the inside of the punch, the outer design is very evenly made - symmetrical.

The secondary mintmark on this variety is nearly complete and is spread closely to the north. A reverse die change includes a nice Class 6 doubled die reverse. It is listed as 1937D-1DR-001. As such, those coins with both the RPM and DDR will command a slight premium over those with just the RPM.
